May 26th, 2021
An Emergency Ride Home Option without a Driver
For ridesharers who aren’t comfortable sharing the ride with a Lyft driver for their Emergency Ride Home during the Coronavirus outbreak. Envoy COVID Response.
Envoy is an on-demand electric car-sharing company with Nissan Leafs located throughout the Irvine Spectrum area and is available to any area employee to book by the hour or day. They also have exclusive location access for the Apartment Communities in the area. These zippy little cars are perfect for ridesharers (anyone who doesn't drive alone to work e.g. takes the train, bus, carpools, etc.) who need to get to a meeting across town or run an errand during lunch. Envoy cars are also an excellent Emergency Ride Home option for those who want a ride-alone option going home. Read on for all you need to know to use Envoy including a PROMO CODE to try it out!
How to Use the Envoy App
Envoy for an Emergency Ride Home
Envoy is a great option for ridesharers (anyone who didn't drive alone into work) who are near an Envoy car location and already have an account set up. We recommend you set up your account now so you'll be ready when you need to use the emergency ride home. Make sure you've read and are eligible for an Emergency Ride Home by reviewing the program details and eligibility requirements.
Apartment community tenants are not eligible for the Envoy Emergency Ride Home.

Keep In Mind
Distance limitations: The range of the Nissan leaf is around 100 - 120 miles per change. If you live more than 100 miles round trip, you may need to charge the vehicle.
You are responsible for any charging costs you incur while you have the vehicle. Find a Charging Station.
Like a gas vehicle, the slower you drive, the more miles you will get out of a full charge. Miles per charge will drain faster the faster you drive.
Spectrumotion will only reimburse for the first 24 hours of use. If you use Envoy for an Emergency Ride Home on a Friday, you will need to bring the vehicle back the following day, or pay for the time used after the 24 hour period has passed.
How to Use Envoy for an Emergency Ride Home:
- Make sure you are eligible for an Emergency Ride Home.
- Download the Envoy app and create an account.
- Submit the Envoy Emergency Ride Home form with the pickup of your Envoy EV car.
- Once submitted, you will receive an access code to the Envoy car location you chose.
- Use the Envoy app to access your Envoy location and book the car.
- Use the Envoy app to unlock and lock the car.
- Drop off the car at the original location.
- Submit your receipt to rideshare@spectrumotion.com within 24 hours of the emergency ride home.
Envoy Customer Service: Use the Chat in the Support section in the app or call (888) 610-0506.
Insurance and roadside assistance are included. You don’t have to bring the car back “on a full tank”, just plug the car in when you’re done.
Envoy To Get Around the Irvine Spectrum Area
A big reason we hear why commuters don’t rideshare to work (anything besides driving alone) is the lack of a personal vehicle to get to meetings, run errands, or go to lunch. No more! Employees near the locations below can hop in an Envoy Vehicle (a new Nissan Leaf) and be on their way. This makes Envoy On-Demand Electric Vehicles perfect for employees who commute to work in the Irvine Spectrum area via Metrolink/Amtrak trains, carpool, OCTA bus, or vanpool.
Cars are available to book on-site at the locations below by the hour ($12.00), or day ($96.00).
